Flexible PVC Hose for Plumbing Filtration Systems
This flexible PVC pipe is ideal for plumbing filtration systems. It can be hard plumbed or clamped to ABS barbed fittings on pumps and other filtering equipment, providing an all-around flexible solution that is both people and fish friendly.
The tubing is flexible yet will not crimp or cave in, improving water flow. It has a white color and is not compatible with all adapters, primarily 1 1/2" barbed fittings. It's important to note that the inside diameter of the 1.5" flexible PVC tubing is around 1 5/8", which is intentional to allow for internal fittings to be inserted.
This flexible PVC pipe is a true schedule 40 PVC pipe, using standard schedule 40 fittings and PVC glue, allowing for easy connection to rigid PVC. It can be used with a maximum operating water pressure of 60 psi.
The flexible hose is specifically designed for swimming pool or spa filtration systems. The PVC pipe is NSF certified and IAPMO approved. It's important to note that the hose is labeled as 1.5", but the inside diameter is slightly larger at 1 5/8", which is intentional to allow for internal fittings to fit.
To make a strong connection, you will need primer and glue to hard plumb the pipe. Alternatively, it can be clamped to ABS barbed fittings on pumps and other filtering equipment.
When using band clamps (1.5") along with a barbed or ribbed fitting measuring 1.5", a secure connection can be achieved. The tubing is made of an FDA non-toxic formulation and can be used buried or above ground.
It's crucial to use the right PVC glue when bonding flexible PVC pipe to fittings and allow for proper curing time. However, the tubing is not compatible with all adapters, mainly 1 1/2" barbed fittings.
